Visual Art

Things Change. Things Stay the Same. Like many artists, I've been making art since I was a kid. I remember responding to an advertisement in a magazine which was marketed as an assessment of artistic talent. I sent in a drawing. I didn't tell my parents until I received the magazine's response, alas I was "eligible" for classes. Of course my parents said no. Of course they said I had been duped, the ad was a rip off. Of course I was devastated. Thankfully, I'm still mark-making. What I realize once my art began to incorporate words was that my gestures were (unintentionally) similar - frenetic yet contained. Water. Kelp. Mars. Maps. Whether it's paper, or rope, or cement, or wood, or letterpress, or pencils, or dialogue... I love to create!
